Sony has unveiled the ECM-AX10, a groundbreaking mobile microphone that claims the title of the world’s first to support Eclipsa Audio 3D spatial audio. This innovative device is designed to capture immersive spatial audio in sync with video recordings, enhancing the way users document their experiences.

Capture Immersive Soundscapes

Boasting Eclipsa Audio certification, the ECM-AX10 can be directly attached to smartphones, making high-quality spatial audio recording accessible to content creators on the go. Whether you’re filming a vlog, capturing travel memories, recording a concert, or experiencing a live sports event, this microphone aims to translate the subtle atmospheric nuances and the palpable sense of presence that often elude traditional audio capture.

Advanced Audio Technology

At the heart of the ECM-AX10 are four omnidirectional microphones. This configuration is engineered to capture comprehensive spatial acoustic information, offering users the flexibility to choose from various recording formats suited to different environments. Complementing the hardware is the dedicated Spatial Audio Video Tool app, which is planned for release on both iOS and Android platforms. Sony notes that while the app facilitates the recording, variations in smartphone camera capabilities may lead to differences in the final video quality.

Seamless Connectivity and Availability

The ECM-AX10 features a USB-C interface, enabling direct connection to smartphones for straightforward, high-quality spatial audio recording. The device is set to launch in Japan on October 23rd, with a price tag of approximately 30,000 Japanese yen, which translates to about 1,271 Chinese yuan at current exchange rates.
