Sony’s China unit has expanded its audio lineup with the SRS-XB100 portable wireless speaker, which is now available for pre-order at RMB 399 ($55). Official sales will begin on April 1 on JD.com, and the speaker will be available in four colors: Black, Gray, Orange, and Blue. The speaker was initially launched in India last July, and now it’s making its way to the Chinese market.

Let’s move on to the specifications: this lightweight and compact speaker with a cylindrical cabinet weighs only 274 g and has a detachable double strap for easy portability. The bottom of the speaker has an anti-slip silicone coating, which provides stability in an upright position.
In terms of sound, the speaker features a full-range driver and passive radiator for clear sound and strong bass. Sony’s unique DSP technology extends the range of low-frequency response for enhanced bass. The speaker also features a sound dispersion processor for wider sound dispersion.
Sony equips the SRS-XB100 with Bluetooth 5.3 for wireless connectivity and extended battery life. It is IP67-rated for dust and water resistance, making it suitable for outdoor use.
The speaker offers up to 16 hours of playback on a single battery charge, allowing you to listen to music all day long. The speaker also supports USB-C charging for convenient power.
For those who like to control their music from their smartphone, the SRS-XB100 is compatible with the Sony Music Center app. This app lets you control playback, adjust sound settings, and even customize the speaker’s lighting. The speaker can also be paired with another SRS-XB100 device for stereo sound.
In addition to music playback, the SRS-XB100 also has a built-in microphone for hands-free calling. The speaker utilizes echo cancellation technology to ensure clear calls even in noisy environments.
When designing the SRS-XB100, Sony did not forget about environmental friendliness. The case and strap of the speaker are partially made of recycled plastic materials, and the packaging is completely plastic-free.
