Sonos continues to clean up its act as it recovers from the blows it suffered after a disastrous mobile app redesign last year. Just a day after CEO Patrick Spence left the company, Chief Product Officer Maxime Bouvat-Merlin is also leaving. He will serve as an advisor to interim CEO Tom Conrad during the leadership transition before leaving Sonos entirely.
According to The Verge, Conrad informed Sonos employees of the latest leadership change in a company-wide email today. The COO position is no longer needed, and the Sonos development team now reports directly to Konrad.
A day after Bouva-Merlin’s dismissal, The Verge reported that Chief Commercial Officer Deirdre Findlay was also leaving the company. However, an internal email from Conrad clarifies that Findlay does not yet have a specific timeline for her departure, and the reasons for her departure from Sonos are not related to recent changes in leadership.
Sonos found itself in a difficult position after it released a mobile app update in May that contained many bugs and lacked key features. The company’s financial results deteriorated sharply, and in August it laid off about 100 employees. Sonos has gone to great lengths to keep customers informed of its plans to recover from the app’s launch, and the decision to replace senior management seems to be the latest step to restore public confidence in the business.
