This year’s SEMICON India is particularly noteworthy for significant investment pledges announced by leading global semiconductor equipment manufacturers, Applied Materials and Lam Research, just prior to the event’s opening. Applied Materials’ Strategic Expansion

Applied Materials plans to invest a substantial 36 billion Indian Rupees (approximately 2.518 billion RMB) over the next decade in Karnataka’s Bengaluru business park. This significant investment is earmarked for bolstering research and development capabilities, establishing critical equipment manufacturing facilities, and advancing software development for semiconductor manufacturing processes. The initiative is projected to create approximately 1,000 new job opportunities, contributing to the local economy and talent pool.

Lam Research’s Groundbreaking Initiative

Lam Research is set to invest 100 billion Indian Rupees (approximately 6.995 billion RMB) to establish its first silicon ingot production site in India. In addition to this pioneering venture, the company intends to expand its advanced research and development operations within the country and actively engage in nurturing India’s semiconductor talent. This multi-faceted investment highlights Lam Research’s commitment to supporting India’s semiconductor ambitions.
