Leaks about new devices from Samsung appear again. This time, a device with the model number “SM-M166P” appeared in the Geekbench 5 benchmark database. From the WiFi Alliance certificate, which was distributed earlier, we know that SM-M166P refers to a phone called Samsung Galaxy M16 5G.

The device in the Geekbench database, uploaded on November 24, 2024, is powered by an octa-core chipset with 2 processor cores clocked at 2.4 GHz and 6 processor cores clocked at 2 GHz.
Upon further investigation of the Geekbench data, it was found that the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU was used. Thus, the Galaxy M16 5G indicates the use of the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset, which has the specifications as mentioned above. Previously, the Dimensity 6300 was also used by its “brother”, the Galaxy M16 5G, which was already introduced in Indonesia last week, namely the Galaxy A16 5G.
The Galaxy M16 54G itself scored 5,552 points in the Geekbench 5 single-core test and 1,611 points in the multi-core test. In addition, the Galaxy M16 5G also appears in the November 23, 2024 Geekbench ML database, which measures AI performance, with a score of 469.
Among other things related to the Galaxy M16 5G specs that can be seen in these Geekbench leaks is that this device has 8GB of RAM and runs on Android 14 operating system.
Probable specifications of the Galaxy M16 5G
It is known that the previous generation phone, the Galaxy M15 5G, has identical specifications to another model from the Galaxy A line, the Galaxy A15 5G, with the main difference being the larger battery capacity of the Galaxy M15 5G.
Therefore, it can be assumed that the Galaxy M16 5G will also have identical specifications to the Galaxy A16 5G, which has officially arrived in Indonesia. What’s more, from the Geekbench leak above, both phones will use the Dimensity 6300 chipset.
The Galaxy A16 5G uses a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display (FHD plus, 90Hz), 8GB / 256GB of RAM, is IP54 certified, and has a fingerprint scanner on the side. The camera set consists of a 50 MP (f/1.8) main camera, a 5 MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide-angle camera, a 2 MP (f/2.4) macro camera, and a 13 MP (f/2.0) front camera. The operating system is Android 14 with a 6-year update warranty.
The battery has a capacity of 5,000 mAh with support for 25W fast charging. It’s likely that the Galaxy M16 5G will outperform the Galaxy A16 5G in this aspect, with a 6,000 mAh battery like the previous Galaxy M15 5G, while supporting 25W fast charging.
