Samsung Galaxy Book 4 Edge is coming soon

Recently, Samsung released four Galaxy Book 4 models – Galaxy Book 4 360, Galaxy Book 4 Ultra, Galaxy Book 4 Pro, and Galaxy Book 4 Pro 360. Now Samsung is going to add another model to the lineup – the Galaxy Book 4 Edge, which will be one of the first devices to use the new Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite platform.

The upcoming device is positioned to compete with Apple’s silicon MacBooks, promising high performance and energy efficiency. This Snapdragon X Elite-based laptop recently appeared in Geekbench, outperforming Apple’s M1 and M2 devices.

The Galaxy Book 4 Edge will use Qualcomm’s 12-core ARM processor with clock speeds up to 4.3 gigahertz. This processor, developed by a team of former Apple chip designers, aims to close the performance gap between Windows and MacOS devices by challenging Apple’s M-series processors.

Initial specifications show a 14-inch display, complemented by 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. While more details on storage and memory configuration remain undisclosed, the device is expected to offer premium features typical of high-end laptops.

Priced at around 1800 euros (~1968 USD), the Galaxy Book 4 Edge is positioned in the same range as Apple’s latest MacBook Air. Despite the premium price, the Samsung laptop is expected to justify its price point with energy-efficient operation, potentially offering significantly longer battery life than its peers.

When it comes to performance, the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite chip has demonstrated impressive capabilities. In tests conducted by XDA Developers, machines powered by this chip outperformed MacBook Airs with the M2 chip, demonstrating promising single-core and multi-core performance.

Although the exact launch date of the Galaxy Book 4 Edge remains unknown, the new SoC from Qualcomm is scheduled for mid-2024. Consumers can therefore expect the Snapdragon X Elite-based laptop to hit store shelves in the second half of the year, offering an attractive option for those looking for increased performance and energy efficiency.
