Materials
As before, RIVACASE remains a supporter of plastic cases for its portable chargers, and there is nothing wrong with that, because the material used is of high quality. I can say the latter, having summarized the results of my acquaintance with several models of the manufacturer, both relatively recently and several years ago – in this regard, I have absolutely no complaints.
Even a side-by-side inspection is enough to draw some relevant conclusions. For example, the back wall and side edges are one solid piece. In turn, the top panel seems to be put on the main body. The material is matte. The back, the sides, and half of the front panel have the same texture, while the other half of the last mentioned wall has its own pattern.
In addition to plastic, there are several metal elements on the outside of the case – the edging of ports and interfaces.
Build quality of the case
What should you know about this particular point? First of all, the materials chosen by the manufacturer are really high quality. The plastic does not creak, the panels do not bend, and there is no backlash at the joints of the halves. In short, you will not be 100% disappointed in this regard.
The halves are fixed together in a classic way – with a special glue.
I personally do not recommend “unsticking” and “climbing” inside, even if you are, let’s say, a specialized specialist, because it makes absolutely no sense.
General impressions of the design
This model of the power bank is available in two colors: all-white and black. The first of these colors was in our editorial office.
Of course, the low cost of the product, and less than one thousand hryvnias for 20,000 mAh is really not much, partially explains the rather simple approach in this direction. On the other hand, there are many arguments in favor of the fact that the manufacturer tried to give the maximum capabilities to this product, while, let’s say, keeping its cost as low as possible. And here, the rather restrained design does not play a special role, because the priorities are different. The answer to the question of whether it is worth accepting such compromises will not be unambiguous – it depends on your personal priorities.
Experience in use
So, how did I use RIVACASE RIVAPOWER VA2572? First of all, I was wondering if it was enough power to power the optics in my apartment. The winter is ahead of us, and if it is at least 50% similar to the last one, the issue of alternative power supply is not superfluous. In the end, I was satisfied with the result – I managed not only to turn on the router and the “granddaughter”, but also to get 8 hours of stable continuous power supply, which is a full working day.
So, if you are already thinking about an alternative, here is the “answer”. And by the way, the cables for such “power supply” are now available at a price 5-7 times lower than in winter. So, as they say, “prepare your sled in the summer”.
Recharging wireless headphones. As you know, TWS take a very small amount of power, and not all power banks can “service” them – they turn off automatically in half a minute or even faster. But not in the case of RIVAPOWER VA2572.
Next. Recharging the laptop. The manufacturer declares such a possibility, but it is worth remembering the power – 20W. That is, we are not talking about any full-fledged charging. At the same time, 20W will help your PC discharge much more slowly, which, in the absence of more acceptable alternatives, is said to have a right to life.
Recharging my smartphone’s battery, which is 6000 mAh, takes more than three full cycles. The speed is 1.2 hours per cycle.
Charging the adapter itself takes about four hours when using the 65W Gelius Nimble GaN 65W GP-HC051 power adapter, which we reviewed on our website at one time. The heating during charging is moderate.
A separate plus for the support of the pass-through charging function. I think there is no need to explain what this means. The very fact of its presence is pleasant, because even more expensive models can do this.
Conclusions and summary
Although this model of the power bank does not claim to be a top-ranked device – there are enough competitors, it will have its users, because it has a very interesting combination of functionality and cost. Yes, the model looks rather restrained in terms of design, but in this particular case, I personally doubt that appearance will be a key factor in the choice.
