Redmi K70 series review: Launch date, design, specs and price

Redmi brand, which is part of the Xiaomi group, is going to present its next-generation flagship smartphones. These devices are collectively known as the Redmi K70 series.

The company has been teasing the features of these phones for the past few days. In addition, we have been hearing about them for a long time through leaks.

In total, three phones will be presented. Officially, they are called Redmi K70 Pro, Redmi K70, and Redmi K70e.

Let’s take a look at everything we know about these products.

Redmi K70 series launch date

The Redmi K70 series is scheduled to launch on November 29 (Wednesday) in China. The announcement will be made at a press conference starting at 19:00 local time (GMT+8).

The event will be broadcast live on Weibo and other leading Chinese video streaming platforms.

The smartphones will be accompanied by several ecosystem products, such as Redmi Book 14/16 2024, Redmi Watch 4, and Redmi Buds 5 Pro.

Design of the Redmi K70 series

The Redmi K70 series will get a completely new design. The phones will have a flat body.

In addition, they will feature the largest camera module in the history of Redmi smartphones. The professional model will have a metal frame. At the time of this writing, it is unknown whether the same material will be used to make the frames of the other two phones.

The volume control and power button will be located on the right edge of the devices. While the upper side will house the IR blaster, and the lower part will consist of a USB Type-C port, as well as a speaker grill.

These phones will be available in at least two colors.

Technical specifications of the Redmi K70 series

At the time of writing, only a few things are known about the Redmi K70 and Redmi 70 Pro. On the other hand, almost everything is known about Redmi K70e. So let’s talk about it first.

The Redmi K70e will feature a 6.67-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2712 x 1220 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The panel will have a 12-bit color depth (software) and a peak brightness level of 1200 nits.

The device will be powered by a MediaTek Dimenisty 8300-Ultra chip paired with LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. As for the software, it will load HyperOS based on Android 14.

The phone will have a 16-megapixel selfie camera and a triple camera on the back, consisting of a 64-megapixel OmniVision OV64B main sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle module, and a 2-megapixel macro lens.

Finally, it will be backed by a 5500 mAh battery with 90W charging support.

The Redmi K70 and Redmi K70 Pro, on the other hand, will be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipsets, respectively. They will also come with HyperOS operating system based on Android 14.

Both are expected to feature the same 50MP OmniVision OV50E primary sensor and 8MP ultra-wide-angle module. The third camera on the vanilla variant will be a 2-megapixel shooter. While the pro version will be equipped with a 50-megapixel OmniVision OV50D telephoto camera with a 2x telephoto lens.

The duo will support 120W wired charging. However, the vanilla model will have a 5,000 mAh battery, not the 5,120 mAh battery of the pro version.

Expected price of the Redmi K70 series

The Redmi K70 series is likely to cost about the same as the Redmi K60 series or slightly more.

For comparison, the Redmi K60e, Redmi K60, and Redmi K60 Pro started at 2,199, 2,499, and 3,299 yuan at the launch, respectively.
