Rada supported the anti-corruption draft law

The Verkhovna Rada has supported the draft law on e-excise. The introduction of electronic stamps for alcohol and tobacco will save the state billions.

The vote was 252 in favor. E-excise is an important anti-corruption project that will change the functioning of the entire sector. The transparent digital system will work for both the state and the consumer, and will also remove bureaucracy for business.

Ukraine will have a traceability system similar to the European Tobacco Track & Trace system, which has been operating in the EU since 2019.

The e-excise system will store information about each unique identifier applied to products. It will allow to fully recreate the history of movements of each specific product.

Tracking will allow monitoring the current location and recording all product movements. And tracing will make it possible to check the route of the product right from the production.

Deputy Prime Minister Mykhailo Fedorov emphasizes:

“A top anti-corruption project that will prevent the state from losing billions due to the shadow alcohol and tobacco market. This money will be spent on defense.”

The e-excise project is being implemented by the Ministry of Digital Transformation jointly with the Ministry of Finance and the State Tax Service with the support of the USAID/UK aid project TAPAS Project/Transparency and Accountability in Public Administration and Services.

Introduction of e-excise will increase state budget revenues by 15%.
