The OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G is the company’s new flagship phone. It was presented at the end of last month in Milan, Italy. The phone has an extremely durable body that has been rated IP69, a new design, and advanced photo features that use AI. We’ll talk more about all of these features in the review.
The Oppo Reno13 Pro 5G box
OK, let’s go through this step by step. The packaging for the OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G looks like the boxes for the A18, A58, A78 smartphones and OPPO PAD Neo tablet. It has a similar style, colors, and design.
The front lid has a print that says “Lavender Butterfly,” which is the name of the color. The Chinese have a clever way of expressing things. You can see more details in the photo below, including data transmission from the walls.
The package looks like the one we saw in the box of the OPPO PAD Neo tablet: It includes a Type-C cable, the necessary documents, and a lockpick for the SIM card container. There is no charger adapter in the basic package. The “alternative” is a power bank, a third-party adapter, a charging station, and so on. You should definitely have one of these.
Wireless charging isn’t supported. I learned this from the Gelius Oasis GP-SDC03, which I reviewed before, and the Gelius Transformer 2 GP-LTL004 table lamp, which has the same function.

Design, materials and build quality
But why Butterfly (I’m sure the shade is already clear without further explanation)? It’s all about the really great print on the box lid, which looks like a butterfly wing. The manufacturer did exactly the same thing on the back of the smartphone. The result looks very sophisticated.
You don’t need to tilt your smartphone to see this picture. Below is a series of photos of the panel with the “wing shine” mentioned earlier. What do you think of this design feature? We were delighted.
Speaking of colors. Our Pro version (we will test the “younger brother” without Pro in the name later) is available in “Graphite Gray” in addition to the “Lavender Butterfly” mentioned earlier. We haven’t seen it in person, so we won’t share our impressions, but below is a photo from the official website. Maybe this color will interest you even more than “romantic lavender.”
The “younger brother” is “Diamond Butterfly” and “Velvet Sapphire.” We will learn more about them later.
Now, let’s talk about the materials used. To be honest, I’m not familiar with monolithic molded glass or the manufacturing process, but the manufacturer says the final product is impressive. To show this, I touched the panel with the tip of a screw without any protection. I expected to get a scratch, but all I got was an elevated heart rate.
The material used for the edges is a type of aluminum used in aircraft. According to the technical characteristics of this material, it provides 200% more elasticity and 20% better bending resistance. It is also more than one-third (36%) more resistant to the possible effects of falls.
The display is also impressive. It is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i. Tests of this coating show that it can withstand a fall from a height of one meter. This glass is twice as strong and scratch-resistant as other similar products.
There are no comments about how well it is made, even in the form of minor criticisms. The approach here is really cool.
Another huge plus is the case’s IP69 protection. This protection standard lets you use the OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G for underwater photography. And, of course, you don’t have to worry about damage caused by talking in the rain or otherwise being exposed to water. The manufacturer has clearly put a lot of effort into making this phone durable, and I’m confident that you’ll agree after trying it out for yourself.
OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G ergonomics
The smooth edges of a smartphone case are always easy for the user’s hand to hold. OPPO knows this, and that’s probably why we, dear readers, have the OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G, which is a great example.
You won’t be able to control the smartphone entirely with your fingers, which is where the handset sits, for obvious reasons, although you can handle most of it.
The front of the case is behind the display, and there are three buttons at the bottom of the screen. I’ll add right away that everything is fine with sensitivity.
The front camera is at the top, and a little higher up is a grid of the built-in speaker, which is barely noticeable. The speaker is designed in a very attractive way. The panel “shimmers” into the edge, and the speaker grid is almost invisible.
It’s really worth taking a close look. The back has a pretty butterfly wing print, a strong camera unit, and a special glass stand. The result is a harmonious combination of the main panel and the glass pedestal. This is interesting!
In addition to the above, there is also the manufacturer’s logo. You can easily see the plastic inserts on the aluminum edging.
On the right side, there are two buttons for controlling the volume and for turning the device on and off.
At the bottom, there’s a slot for SIM cards, a small hole for the built-in microphone, a Type-C port, and a speaker mesh.
Finally, at the top is the IR port, which is used for the “background suppressors” during shooting, among other things.
The OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G display
The smartphone has a 6.83-inch screen with a resolution of 1272×2800 pixels. It uses an AMOLED matrix. The refresh rate is 120 Hz (60/90/120 Hz). As for the pressure sampling rate, it can go up to 240 Hz.
As for the color range, natural mode covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color space, expert mode covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color space, and vivid mode covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color space. The color depth is 1.07 billion shades. The density is 450 ppi. So, there’s no graininess.
The brightness is set to 600nits as the default, and the maximum brightness is 1200nits.
Impressions of working with the screen
I liked the OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G screen because it can show colors very well, even when there is a lot of sunlight. The sensor that adjusts the screen automatically works perfectly.
You can also see everything just fine from the corners. The display is excellent, with no distortion at the maximum tilt. The 10-finger multitouch is supported.
You can change the settings in the submenu. There, you can choose a light or dark mode, manually or automatically adjust the backlight level, activate one of the color modes that best suits your needs, and work with the “Eye Comfort and Sleep” submenu. You can also adjust fonts and their display size. You can also activate adaptive sleep mode, adjust the resolution according to two pre-implemented “scenarios,” and do much more.
Built-in memory
The OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G has 512 GB of internal storage. The images below will show how much of this amount is available to the user right away, and how much has been “taken away” by the system.
Formats for expanding the built-in memory
OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G doesn’t have a slot for memory cards, which makes sense because it has a lot of built-in storage.
However, OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G is a modern smartphone, so users can use various cloud services, such as Google Drive, as an alternative for expansion. You can also connect USB drives to this phone. It supports USB OTG, and it works perfectly.
Built-in speakers
The OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G has two speakers: one is an earpiece speaker, and the other is a loudspeaker. The earpiece speaker is located above the display, while the loudspeaker is on the bottom.
Settings and sound quality
The settings submenu has some interesting options for the user. For example, you can adjust the vibration intensity during a call. There’s also a “Do Not Disturb” option with the appropriate settings. Another interesting option is the Clear Voice option. This feature helps you hear better by filtering out background noise during calls. You can also customize sound effects, use HOLO Audio, etc. Below is a detailed photo for a more visual experience.
The sound quality is excellent. It’s great for calls and playing media. The manufacturer did a great job, and even the most demanding users will be happy with the result.
The battery of the Oppo Reno13 Pro 5G
The OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G has a battery capacity of 5800 mAh. It is designed to last a long time without losing its performance. Here’s a fun fact: even after five years of use, this phone can still hold at least 80% of its original battery power.
The battery life was tested using the popular Battery HD application. The results are shown in the illustrations below.
Charge speed
Both the OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G and its “little brother” support OPPO SUPERVOOC fast charging technology at a maximum power of 80W.
Unfortunately, we were unable to test this in real-world conditions. But I connected the Reno13 Pro 5G to a 65W ColorWay CW-PB200LPA3BK-PDD power bank, and it charged to 100% in less than an hour, which is also very good.
Operating system
As for the software platform, we have ColorOS 15, which is based on the corresponding version of Android. I will talk about all its features in a separate review soon. The features are mainly design-related, but not only.
Hardware
The system’s main processor is an 8-core MediaTek Dimensity 8350. The graphics processing unit (GPU) is an ARM G615. It has 12 GB of RAM. You can expand the RAM using OPPO’s usual tools.
Performance testing
Next, I’m going to test how well the smartphone system works. To do this, I used several popular testing programs. The results are shown below.
Pre-installed applications
The smartphone applications that users will receive include Fitbit, Gemini, Miravia, Netflix, as well as TikTok, Temu, and others.
Camera capabilities
The main camera system of the Reno13 Pro 5G has three parts: two 50MP modules (one Sony IMX890 and one telephoto with 3.5x zoom + 8MP over wide-angle + 50MP selfie), Both the front camera and the main camera system support 4K video recording.
The phone’s durable design allows it to withstand water, with an IP69 rating that lets you submerge the phone in up to 80-degree water without damage.
This smartphone has a lot of artificial intelligence features that make it easy to take great pictures. We’ll talk about them in a separate section. Here is a series of illustrations of the camera interface to summarize.
AI features
What features are we talking about? First of all, Livephoto AI. It uses OIS stabilization and dynamic frame expansion technology to minimize blurring and increase image sharpness.
The AI Editor is designed to improve the results of underwater shooting.
It also has a full set of tools for editing and improving your audio after you’ve recorded it, as well as Pro XDR technology. This technology is used to improve personalization.
AI Motion can turn still images into short videos.
Reno13 Pro 5G users also have a whole set of tools that turn ordinary photos into professional-quality images. AI Clarity Enhancer makes distant landscapes look clearer. AI Unblur makes blurry photos clearer. AI Reflection Remover removes glare on glass. It’s definitely worth a try.
Test photos
Here I have posted a fairly large selection of test photos taken during the presentation of the new product in Italy – click here to view them. I’ll leave some more in this section.

Expert opinion on the Oppo Reno13 Pro 5G
This means that we have an excellent smartphone for anyone who needs a lot of power to do many things at once, like use multiple apps at the same time, play high-quality videos and photos, and do other demanding tasks. It’s an interesting model in all respects, without any compromises in terms of design, build quality, or functionality.
OPPO Reno13 Pro 5G costs $999 (12 GB RAM + 512 GB storage)
