OpenAI may turn into a humanoid robot

OpenAI, an artificial intelligence (AI) company, may soon make a name for itself in the world of robotics. According to The Information, OpenAI plans to enter the market of humanoid robots. The company is reportedly negotiating the creation of humanoid robots. Let’s see what big plans it has for 2024.

OpenAI will create a humanoid robot

Until 2021, OpenAI had a separate division that dealt with robots. However, the company was forced to close this division as it decided to focus more on artificial intelligence software. This was confirmed by Wojciech Zaremba, who headed this division at the time. In one of his podcasts, he said that the team abandoned this area because they were unable to teach something in accordance with the desired level of intelligence.

But now, in 2024, the company is planning to start from scratch again and enter this sector. Some other reports indicate that OpenAI is also looking to collaborate with TSMC and Broadcom. The goal is to develop the first proprietary chip to support artificial intelligence systems.

Plans for the future

In the future, OpenAI will also invest in robotics startups. The list includes Physical Intelligence, Figure AI, and 1X Technologies. These startups are working on creating humanoid robots and developing artificial general intelligence or AGI.

In addition to this, OpenAI also plans to develop its reasoning model and AI agent. They will be designed to “help automate all kinds of software development and analysis tasks.” However, no official announcement has been made about these plans so far.

Well, OpenAI is not the only one who wants to make a name for itself in the humanoid robot market. There are already other players. For example, you have Tesla’s bot called Optimus and Boston Dynamics’ Atlas. It looks like OpenAI also wants to enter the market and compete in this space.
