OpenAI finally came up with the Chat.com web domain

OpenAI has received a domain name that sounds logical. Chat.com, which was previously purchased for more than $15 million, is now in the hands of ChatGPT.

According to the domain history website who.is, Chat.com was first registered in September 1996. Before being acquired by OpenAI, it last changed hands in 2023, when HubSpot co-founder and CTO Dharmesh Shah bought it for $15.5 million. It can be assumed that the executive saw that the AI chatbot industry is developing rapidly and that this short period of time could bring big profits. It was reportedly one of the two largest public domain sales in history.

OpenAI did not disclose how much it paid for Chat.com, but confirmed that it bought the domain. And if you expect drastic changes from the OpenAI chatbot, it is unlikely to be related to the ChatGPT rebranding. Nevertheless, the domain now redirects to a world-changing artificial intelligence tool.
