OpenAI continues to release new versions of artificial intelligence. In April, the company introduced the o3 and o4-mini models for its ChatGPT platform. At the time, the company promised that a professional o3 model would soon be available, and this version became available today.
Both the o3 and o4-mini models are designed to use and combine all the tools under the ChatGPT umbrella. When OpenAI adds the “pro” designation to a model, it means that the version has been designed to take longer to respond to queries and provide better and more accurate answers. “We recommend using it for complex queries where reliability is more important than speed and waiting a few minutes is worth it,” the company notes in the o3-pro release notes. According to the test results, o3-pro showed better results than o3 and o1-pro.
There are some limitations on other ChatGPT services that o3-pro can use. Image generation and Canvas are not supported, so users will have to use other models for these functions. o3-pro is available today for ChatGPT Pro and Team users, while Enterprise and Edu users will have access to this option next week.
