Nubia to unveil its first foldable Flip 5G smartphone at MWC 2024

Nubia has announced its entry into the foldable smartphone market with the Nubia Flip 5G. The device will make its official debut at MWC 2024 in Barcelona on February 26.

Today, the company revealed the new product via its Weibo account. The official poster shows that the phone has a compact, vertically foldable design with a round display on the back.

This design is very similar to the recently released ZTE Libero Flip – probably hinting that the Nubia Flip 5G may simply be a rebranded version for the global market.

Libero Flip is equipped with a 6.9-inch folding OLED display with FHD+ resolution and an additional 1.43-inch cover display with 466 x 466 pixels.

The device is powered by a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset, paired with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. Unfortunately, the company still ships it with Android 13 with ZTE UI. But we hope that the Nubia Flip 5G will come with Android 14 pre-installed.

However, ZTE has included several folding-specific features in Libreo Flip. For example, you can split menu items on both sides of the folding screen. The external display also supports a number of functions, including using the camera for selfies, tracking steps, weather updates, and controlling music playback.

In terms of camera, the phone has a 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and a 16-megapixel front-facing camera. The battery is a 4310 mAh with 33W fast charging support.

Despite its similarities to the ZTE Libero Flip, the Nubia Flip 5G has received its own certifications, including IMEI database entry and 3C certification with 33W charging support.

More information on the specifications and global availability of the Nubia Flip 5G is likely to be revealed at the MWC presentation.
