NCRC to Set Mobile Interconnection Fee at 36 Kopecks per Minute

    The National Communications Regulation Commission (NCRC) intends to set a fee of 36 kopecks per minute for interconnection of mobile communications networks.

    The National Communications Regulation Commission announced this in a statement.

    At a meeting on September 30, the National Communications Regulation Commission approved the draft of amendments to the fees for accessing the telecommunications networks of operators that have monopoly positions.

    Fees for accessing communications networks are presently differentiated and range from 35 to 40 kopecks per minute.

    In addition, the National Communications Regulation Commission intends to set a uniform fee for accessing fixed-line communications networks at 25 kopecks per minute, compared with the current 18-25 kopecks per minute.

    According to the commission, adoption of these amendments will enable operators to avoid disputes over the commercial terms of connection to their networks when concluding agreements.

    As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the MTS Ukraine mobile communications operator called on the National Communications Regulation Commission in September to introduce uniform tariffs for interconnection among communications operators instead of differential tariffs.

    The NCRC mandated operators on the market of interconnect to conduct mutual settlements on July 1.

    The National Communications Regulation Commission gained the power to regulate interconnect fees after the Antimonopoly Committee decided again in June to declare eight operators as monopolies on the market of interconnect
