The National Communications Regulation Commission (NCRC) has allocated additional frequencies to the Kyivstar mobile communications company for radio-relay communications in Kyiv, the Kyiv region, and the Dnipropetrovsk region until the year 2025.
This is stated in the National Communications Regulation Commission’s decision No. 421 that was approved on September 23.
Specifically, the National Communications Regulation Commission the Kyivstar mobile communications company to use the 22400-22428 and 23408-23436 MHz frequency bands in Kyiv (a total bandwidth of 56.0 MHz).
In addition, the commission licensed the company to use the 22372-22428 and 23380-23436 MHz frequency bands in the Kyiv region (a total bandwidth of 112.0 MHz) as well as the 22344-22372 and 23352-23380 MHz frequency bands in the Dnipropetrovsk region (a total bandwidth of 56.0 MHz).
The company is required to begin using the radio frequencies by May 2011 and be using it in full by November 2011.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the number of Kyivstar’s subscribers increased by 1.4% to 22.43 million in August.
Kyivstar reported a profit of NOK 5.1 billion for the year 2009, when its net revenues reduced by NOK 4.787 billion or 34.6% to NOK 9.047 billion compared with 2008.
On April 21, the Telenor telecommunications company (Norway) and the Altimo company (Russia) announced the completion of the merger of VimpelCom mobile telecommunications operator (Russia) and the Kyivstar mobile communication operator. Consequently, Kyivstar’s shares were automatically transferred to the newly created VimpelCom Ltd.
