Motorola releases headphones with Swarovski crystals

As part of the launch of its new Moto Things line of accessories, Motorola is introducing Moto Buds Loop, the first open-back wireless headphones. Instead of covering your ear completely, Moto Buds Loops wrap around the outside of your ear, almost like a piercing, blocking out less of the world around you but allowing you to hear your music.

Moto Buds Loop are, as the name suggests, large loop-shaped headphones that come in dark “Trekking Green” or light (and rather flashy) “French Oak with Swarovski crystals”. Motorola claims the headphones have 12mm drivers and Sound by Bose technology, which means they are tuned for clarity and balance, and support features such as spatial audio for a complete immersive experience. If you’re worried about call quality, Moto Buds Loop uses a combination of artificial intelligence and dual microphones on the earbuds to minimize background noise. If you need to connect the headphones to other devices, Motorola’s Smart Connect feature can quickly switch Bluetooth connections between Motorola and Lenovo devices.

The Moto Buds Loop earbuds have a battery life of eight hours, and the charging case provides another 37 hours, which is probably enough for a few days of use. Motorola also claims that the Moto Buds Loop have a “water-repellent coating,” but the lack of any official IP rating suggests that you won’t want to check it out.

Open-backed headphones are certainly no longer the niche technology they once were, with Sony, Bose, JLab, and Nothing all offering their own concepts in this regard. It is not surprising that Bose technology is used in Motorola headphones. Both companies use a similar clip design to keep the earbuds from coming out of your ears.

If you’re interested in Moto Buds Loop, you’ll have to wait. Motorola didn’t share a specific price or release date for the wireless earbuds, other than to say that they will be available “in the coming months.”
