Microsoft Outlook update makes it easier to work with emails

Microsoft is adding an extremely useful button to mobile Outlook that will allow you to quickly minimize draft emails and switch between tasks on the go. If you’re like me and you send a lot of emails from your iPhone or Android device, it can be very frustrating to have to exit a draft and look for a date on your calendar or browse for another subject, then return to the Drafts folder and continue working on your email.

The new minimize button in Outlook will put all your recent drafts in a small floating stack so you can switch between writing an email and looking at other emails or calendar events without having to go back to the drafts folder. This is a small change that will make it much easier to draft emails on the go in Outlook.

Microsoft recently started testing this new minimize button in the beta versions of Outlook on iOS and Android, and in the few days I’ve been testing it, it’s already made what I do on a daily basis much faster and more convenient.

Apple has a similar method for switching tasks while working with email in its Mail app for iOS, and it also supports multiple drafts of emails that you can simply swipe down to add to the task switching area. Gmail, at least on iOS, simply saves emails to the drafts folder when you want to switch to your inbox.

The minimize button in mobile Outlook is also starting to roll out to all users, but you can sign up for the Microsoft 365 Insider program if you want to get it a little earlier.
