Microsoft is starting to test its Copilot for Gaming application in the beta version, which launches today on mobile devices. The intelligent gaming assistant was announced earlier this year and promised to help players speed up their games and hone their skills. Launched today, the app allows players to ask the game assistant questions about game strategy and controls via voice or text. Users can also request game recommendations and ask specific questions about their Xbox accounts and subscriptions.
AI games have become a hot topic after companies like Microsoft and Razer entered the market. These tools can replace strategic guides, as they can help you get through particularly difficult moments in a campaign or advise you on tactics during a raid in an MMORPG.
Launching the app on mobile devices is designed to serve as a second screen when playing on Xbox. Taylor O’Malley, chief program officer at Xbox, said: “The companion knows what game you’re playing and understands your Xbox activity, so it can answer any questions you have about games you’re interested in, provide links to more information if its answer includes web sources, or answer questions based on your account, game history, and achievements.”
The preview version of Copilot for Gaming will initially be available via the Xbox app beta in more than 50 regions. Android and iOS users who have already downloaded the Xbox beta will be able to provide feedback on Copilot for Gaming by rating answers and flagging incorrect ones.
Android users who have not yet downloaded the Xbox beta can do so via the Google Play Store. iOS users can no longer download the Xbox beta if they don’t already have it. Microsoft says that the beta version of Copilot for Gaming will also soon appear in the Game Bar on Windows PCs, and that the full version of the program for Xbox is planned to be made available in the future.
