Meizu is set to unveil its next line of budget smartphones next week, according to information shared by the brand on Chinese social media platforms. The new devices, part of the Meizu Note 16 series, will debut alongside the updated Flyme AIOS 2 system at a live streaming event on May 13 at 14:30 (Chinese time).
The Meizu Note 16 lineup will consist of two models – the standard Note 16 and Note 16 Pro. Both phones feature an updated design, including flat edges and a unique rear camera layout. The regular version has an octagonal camera module inspired by ancient Chinese architecture, while the Pro version has a round module. Both phones feature an annular LED flash.
The Note 16 series marks the debut of the Flyme AIOS 2 platform on non-flagship devices, which aims to bring a more refined experience to affordable smartphones. Meizu’s design philosophy for this series focuses on comfort and balance. For example, the Note 16 Pro will have a symmetrical body with ultra-thin bezels measuring 1.45 mm thick, while the standard variant will have 2.5D curved edges and a 3D back panel for better ergonomics.
