After smartwatches and headphones, smartphone brands are moving into a new category, namely smart rings. It seems that itel is also exploring this area.
itel Smart Ring SDPPI listing
Itel Smart Ring is registered with SDPPI with a certificate number: 105018/SDPPI/2024.
Since itel’s parent company Transition is an applicant for this certification, we assume that other Transition brands such as Tecno and Infinix may also have their rings listed. The listing does not reveal any other details. We also have no information on the availability of the ring in India.
However, based on the itel Ring app page on the Play Store, we assume that the device will have Android support and may have the following features:
Itel Smart Ring features
Itel Smart Ring can offer you a physical recovery score, which can give you an idea of your body’s recovery and the level of strength needed to resume physical activity. This score takes into account calories consumed (Kcal) and sleep duration (in hours and minutes).
The Smart Ring app includes specially selected music to help you fall asleep. It would be nice if you could control the playback and volume of this music from the ring itself.
The ring will keep a log of steps taken, distance traveled, calories consumed, and hours of sleep. It will support different activity modes such as walking, running, cycling, etc.
The app will help you control gestures and turn on/off automatic heart rate detection (the automatic feature can be useful, but kills the battery).
This is just an initial release of the app and we assume more features may be added in the future.
