At a presentation held today in China, iQOO has unveiled the Z9 series of smartphones. The lineup consists of Z9, Z9x, and Z9 Turbo. These phones replace last year’s iQOO Z8 series. The Z9x is the base variant, while the Z9 Turbo is the top model. In between is the iQOO Z9. In this article, we will find out what the Z9 and Z9x offer out of the box.
iQOO Z9, Z9x specifications and features
The iQOO Z9 has a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution, 4500 nits peak brightness, and 144Hz refresh rate. It is integrated with a fingerprint scanner. Meanwhile, the iQOO Z9x has a smaller 6.72-inch LCD screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, a peak brightness of 1,000 nits and FHD+ resolution. The iQOO Z9 duo has a flat bezel and a square camera module with rounded corners, which can be found in the iQOO 12. The latter looks a bit different on the Z9x. It also has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner built into the power button. Both phones are certified to the IP64 dust and water resistance standard.
As for the front camera, the iQOO Z9 and Z9x are equipped with dual rear cameras. They consist of a 50-megapixel main sensor and a 2-megapixel lens with depth of field. The first camera has a 16-megapixel selfie camera, and the second has an 8-megapixel selfie camera.
Under the hood, the iQOO Z9 is powered by a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, while the Z9x is equipped with a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC. Both phones have up to 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage on the former, while the latter has up to 256GB. The devices are powered by a huge 6000 mAh battery with 80W and 44W charging support for the Z9 and Z9x, respectively. The software of the Z9 duo runs on OriginOS 4 based on Android 14.
The price of the iQOO Z9 starts at CNY1,199 (~$165) for the 8GB + 128GB version, while the 8GB + 256GB version costs CNY1,299 (~$179). The retail price of the 12GB + 256GB model is 1,499 Chinese yuan (~206 USD). On the other hand, the 8 GB + 128 GB and 8 GB + 256 GB versions of the iQOO Z9 cost 1,499 yuan (~$206) and 1,599 yuan (~$). The 12 GB + 256 GB and 12 GB + 512 GB configurations cost 1,799 yuan (~$248) and 1,999 yuan (~$275), respectively. The Z9 duo is available in white, green, and black colors.
