Apple’s iOS 17.2 update has brought several interesting features to iPhone users, although the long-awaited sideloading feature was not included. Nevertheless, the new version does not disappoint at all, as it introduces various innovations. Notable additions include a Journal app, a translation option for the Action button, and a spatial video feature exclusive to iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max users.

According to the company’s description of the update, “This update introduces the Journal app, providing a new way to reflect on life’s moments and preserve memories. It also improves the Action button and camera, as well as various other features, bug fixes, and security updates for your iPhone.” Below is the full update from Apple:


    • Journal is a new app that allows you to write about the small moments and big events in your life so you can practice gratitude and improve your well-being
    • Diary suggestions make it easier to remember your experiences by intelligently grouping your walks, photos, workouts, and more into moments you can add to your diary
    • Filters allow you to quickly find bookmarked entries or show entries with attachments so you can review and reflect on key moments in your life
    • Scheduled notifications help you stay consistent with your diary by reminding you to write on the days and times you choose
    • Ability to lock the diary with Touch ID or Face ID
    • Syncing with iCloud keeps your records safe and encrypted in iCloud

Action button

      • Translation option for the Action Button on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max to quickly translate phrases or have a conversation with someone in another language


      • Spatial Video lets you shoot video on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max so you can relive your memories in three dimensions on Apple Vision Pro
      • Improved camera focus speed for shooting small, distant subjects on iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max


      • The catch-up arrow allows you to easily jump to the first unread message in a conversation by clicking on the arrow in the upper right corner
      • The Add Sticker option in the context menu allows you to add a sticker directly to the bubble
      • In the Memoji updates, you can now customize the body shape of any Memoji
      • Contact Key Verification provides automated notifications and contact verification codes to help people facing extreme digital threats to communicate only with the people they intend to.


      • The precipitation amount will help you stay informed about the rain and snow on a particular day for the next 10 days
      • The new widgets allow you to choose between precipitation for the next hour, daily forecast, sunrise and sunset times, and current conditions such as air quality, health, and wind speed
      • The wind map snapshot will help you quickly assess wind patterns and access an animated wind map to prepare for the predicted wind conditions for the next 24 hours
      • Interactive lunar calendar allows you to easily visualize the moon phase on any day for the next month

This update also includes the following improvements and bug fixes:

    • Siri support for private access and registration of Health app data using voice
    • Improvements to AirDrop, including enhanced contact sharing capabilities and the ability to share boarding passes, movie tickets, and other relevant passes by pairing two iPhones together.
    • Apple Music’s Favorites playlist lets you quickly return to songs you’ve marked as your favorites.
    • You can turn off using your Apple Music listening history in Focus so that the music you’re listening to doesn’t appear in Recently Played and influence your recommendations
    • The new digital clock widget allows you to quickly check the time on the home screen and in standby mode
    • Improved autocomplete feature detects fields in PDFs and other forms, allowing you to fill them with information such as names and addresses from your contacts
    • New keyboard layouts provide support for 8 Sami languages
    • Sensitive content warning for stickers in messages prevents nude stickers from being shown unexpectedly
    • Qi2 charger support for all iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 models
    • Fixed an issue that could prevent wireless charging in some vehicles
