The Internet Association of Ukraine stands for financial independence of the National Communications Regulatory Commission (NCRC).
“The National Communications Regulatory Commission can only function for expense of portion of those funds Ukrchastotnahliad collects, and also for portion of proceeds from issuing licences. In this case it will be independent enough,” Tetiana Popova, chairperson of the association’s board, told. She added, at the moment the commission was still dependent.
The association also favours the idea of separating the State Communications Administration from the Ministry of Transport and Communications and for creating on its base and on the base of the State Informatisation Committee of a separate body of executive power subject directly to the Cabinet of Ministers.
Today the Commission receives finance from the national budget.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the Internet Association of Ukraine was founded in November 2000 for the purpose of developing the web in Ukraine.
The association how includes 47 full and 40 associated members.
