Huawei has announced a series of flagship Pura 70 phones in China, focused on photography. The line consists of four models: Pura 70, Pura 70 Pro, Pura 70 Pro+ and Pura 70 Ultra. This post mainly focuses on the Ultra and Pro+ versions.

The Pura 70 Ultra and Pura 70 Pro+ are powered by the Kirin 9010 chipset, an updated version of the Kirin 9000 used in the Mate 60 series. The chipset consists of two large cores operating at 2.30 GHz, six medium cores operating at 2.18 GHz, and four small cores operating at 1.55 GHz. Graphics are handled by the Maleoon 910 GPU, which is also available with the Kirin 9000.

The Huawei Pura 70 series XMAGE imaging system is equipped with a one-inch 50-megapixel camera sensor. It has a mechanically rotating telescopic lens design that can expand and contract internally. The company claims that it can withstand at least 300,000 expansions and contractions. In addition, even at speeds of 300 km/h, it can take clear pictures. The main camera supports a variable aperture ranging from f/1.6 to f/4.0 and features anti-shake sensor technology to stabilize images. It is complemented by a 40-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens and a 50-megapixel telephoto macro camera with OIS.

The Pura 70 Pro+ has the same main camera with a variable aperture of f/1.4~f/4.0 and OIS support. It lacks the retractable lens system that is exclusive to the Ultra model. It has a 12.5-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens and a 48-megapixel telephoto-macro camera. Both phones have a 13-megapixel front-facing camera.

The Pura 70 Pro+ and Ultra models feature a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED panel with 1Hz-120Hz refresh rate, 1440Hz PWM, in-screen fingerprint scanner, and second-generation Kunlun glass. The Pro+ model has a 5050 mAh battery, and the Ultra model has a 5200 mAh battery. Both phones support 100W and 80W wired and wireless charging. In addition, both phones also offer 20W reverse wireless charging. Both phones run on Harmony OS 4.2 and come with features such as dual SIM, 5G, Wi-Fi 802.11ax, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, infrared blaster, and satellite connectivity. Finally, both phones are equipped with an IP68-rated body.

Huawei Pura 70 Ultra, Pura 70 Pro+ price and availability

The Huawei Pura 70 Ultra is available in two variants: 16GB+512GB for 9,999 yuan (~$1,380) and 16GB+1TB for 10,999 yuan (~$1,520). It is available in such colors as Star Black, Starburst White, Mocha Brown, and Chanson Green.

Pura 70 Pro+ is available in two variants: 16GB+512GB for RMB 7,999 (~$1,105) and 16GB+1TB for RMB 8,999 (~$1,245). It is available in colors such as Phantom Black, Light Woven Silver, and String White. Both phones are available for purchase in China.
