Huawei Mate XT 2 will be released with satellite support

Several reports have claimed that Huawei is working on a new triple-folding Mate XT series smartphone. A recent report claimed that the Huawei Mate XT 2 would be announced in the second half of this year. A new leak, courtesy of a Smart Pikachu whistleblower, has revealed a more specific launch timeframe.

According to him, Huawei Mate XT 2 will be announced in September in China. He added that the smartphone is undergoing internal testing with satellite connectivity, most likely for features such as emergency messaging or basic internet access in remote areas, similar to what can be seen on Huawei’s latest flagship phones and some Apple devices.

He also claims that the Mate XT 2 will receive upgrades in areas such as chipset, image processing, and communications. A recent leak claimed that the device will feature UFG (ultra-flexible glass) technology for better screen durability.

Huawei Mate XT, which debuted in September last year, has a massive 10.2-inch display with an incredibly thin 3.6 mm profile. The device is equipped with a triple camera (50-megapixel + 13-megapixel + periscope lens), 16 GB of RAM, and up to 1 TB of storage. Reportedly, more than 400,000 devices have been sold, which underscores the growing consumer interest in ultra-premium foldable devices.

By the way, Samsung is also preparing to enter the tri-folding phone segment. The upcoming Samsung tri-folding phone, codenamed Q7M, appeared in the GSMA IMEI database under the model numbers SM-F9680 (China) and SM-F968N (Korea). It is expected to enter the market in October 2025 and will directly compete with Huawei’s lineup.
