Huawei is enhancing its Home Storage solution with a significant update, bringing it closer to the HarmonyOS ecosystem. The latest announcement reveals that Huawei Home Storage now fully supports the HarmonyOS system, introducing a new feature for full device backup.

The update means that Huawei Home Storage can now be integrated seamlessly with devices running HarmonyOS. This integration allows for effortless backup of entire devices, a crucial feature for users who rely on Huawei’s ecosystem for their data management.

- Huawei Phones / Tablets: Version 6.1.0.125 or higher (accessible via Settings > About device > HarmonyOS Version / Software Version).
- Home Storage: Version 6.1.0.7 or higher (accessible via the Smart Life App > Storage card > Settings > System Update).
- Smart Life App: Version 17.0.4.313 or higher (accessible via the Smart Life App > Storage card > Settings > About).
Enhanced Data Management Features
This update builds upon previous HarmonyOS adaptations for Huawei Home Storage. Previously, the device received support for HarmonyOS 6, which introduced features like:
- Seamless Gallery Backup: Support for backing up galleries from phones, tablets, and computers running HarmonyOS NEXT.
- Cloud Integration: Cooperation with the new Cloud Space allows users to choose between backing up to Cloud Space or exclusively to Home Storage within the Huawei Gallery App.
- Duplicate File Cleanup: Functionality to clean and merge duplicate photos and files, optimizing storage space.
Huawei Home Storage: A Powerful Data Hub
Launched in 2022, the Huawei Home Storage was introduced as the first HarmonyOS-based home data center. It offers a range of storage capacities, including 4TB, 8TB, and 16TB options, as well as a diskless version. For users with larger storage needs, the device is also configurable, supporting up to 40TB (20TB + 20TB).
