Google Drive is available on Snapdragon-based computer

A native version of Google Drive for PCs based on Arm processors, such as last year’s Snapdragon X Elite and X Plus chips, has arrived. The company announced the update on its blog, noting that the Drive app for Windows is “generally available” for Snapdragon X chipsets. Today’s release comes after a beta test that has been running since last year.

It included computers from several major brands, most notably the latest Microsoft Surface laptops. The Drive port for Arm-based PCs also allows users to access their accounts through the Windows File Explorer program. This should make it easier to extract files from Drive accounts.

The native app only works on devices running Windows 11 and Microsoft WebView2. Existing beta users will be automatically updated to the full version. The update is rolling out today, but it may take up to 15 days for it to appear in all users’ accounts. The new app is available to all Google Workspace customers, individual Workspace subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts.
