GlobalLogic's employees name the most promising IT specialties

For the new academic year, GlobalLogic, one of the largest IT companies in Ukraine, surveyed its employees about how and what they study. The engineers told about the most promising IT specialties and whether specialized education helps them in their work tasks.

Almost 700 company specialists with different levels of experience took part in the survey. Namely: 245 Senior, 208 Middle, 121 Junior, 18 Trainee, and 49 project managers.

The most promising specialties

The majority of GlobalLogic specialists consider Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning to be the most promising areas for study. This was stated by 67% of respondents. The top ten also includes DevOps, Data Analysis, Embedded, Full Stack, Mobile, Backend, Frontend, Project Management, and Business Analysis.

Knowledge of foreign languages greatly expands the list of sources for gaining knowledge. This is confirmed by the survey results: 85% of respondents study primarily in English.

Only 20% of surveyed professionals believe that a specialized higher education is enough to start a career in IT. The rest are convinced that additional training and practice are required. Thus, the majority of respondents regularly attend professional courses and/or study independently.

The most promising specialties

GlobalLogic Education

About half of the respondents have gained new knowledge through GlobalLogic Education. It is a platform for training both beginners and experienced professionals. Since 2019, the GlobalLogic group of companies has invested more than $6 million in the professional development and training of local specialists in the Central and Eastern Europe region. A significant portion of these investments has been made in engineering talent in Ukraine.

GlobalLogic published the first part of the study on motivation in learning and how much time IT professionals spend on education on the eve of the Knowledge Day.
