Get ready to pay a bit more at the pump. China’s National Development and Reform Commission has announced an adjustment to refined oil prices, with gasoline and diesel set to see an increase effective midnight on August 28th.

Fuel Prices on the Rise

Following fluctuations in international crude oil prices, the average price over the 10 working days preceding this adjustment has been higher than the previous period. Consequently, the prices for gasoline and diesel (standard products) will each increase by 375 yuan per ton and 360 yuan per ton, respectively.

This translates to a national average increase of 0.29 yuan per liter for 92-octane gasoline and 0.31 yuan per liter for 95-octane gasoline. For diesel, the increase is also 0.31 yuan per liter for 0-octane diesel.

For the average car owner with a 50-liter fuel tank, filling up with 92-octane gasoline will now cost approximately 14.5 yuan more. This price hike means that in many areas, 92-octane gasoline will once again cross the 8 yuan per liter threshold, entering the “8 yuan era”.
