China FAW Group has publicly reaffirmed its commitment to stringent safety and quality assurance for its vehicle development, following a recent joint announcement by four government departments to enhance management of automotive product innovation, design, and testing.
On October 10th, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and three other departments released a draft notice aimed at further strengthening the management of innovative design and R&D testing for automotive products. This initiative seeks to ensure that new vehicles entering the market are safe, reliable, and have undergone thorough validation.
In response, China FAW issued a statement emphasizing that the automotive industry is undergoing rapid transformation with frequent introduction of innovative designs. The company stressed that maintaining the safety baseline is crucial for the healthy development of the sector.
FAW stated, “The four departments’ enhanced management of automotive product innovation, design, and R&D testing aligns with development trends and addresses public concerns. It will further guide automotive manufacturers in strengthening safety assessments for innovative designs and comprehensive reliability and environmental adaptability testing. This is significant for preventing innovative designs with potential safety hazards and products that haven’t undergone sufficient R&D and testing from entering the market, thereby effectively protecting consumer rights.”
With over 70 years of automotive manufacturing experience, FAW highlighted its long-standing principle: “If it’s not mature, don’t put it on the car; if it’s not fully verified, don’t launch it.” This guiding philosophy ensures that every vehicle FAW produces can withstand the scrutiny of users and the test of time.
