The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has expressed its readiness to take part in the privatization of Ukrtelecom, Ukraine’s largest telecommunication company, and facilities of the energy sector in Ukraine.

Anton Usov, press secretary for the Kyiv office of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, told this to Ukrainian News.

According to him, representatives of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development expressed the readiness at a meeting with Ukrainian authorities.

Usov said this readiness concerns thermoelectric power plants in particular.

He said the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development can perform as a consultant in the question, finance the privatization, and purchase shares of the enterprises.

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, the State Property Fund of Ukraine on October 13 announced a tender to sell 92.79% of the shares of Ukrtelecom.

The tender is scheduled for December 28, 2010.

The State Property Fund expects the privatization of the shareholding in Ukrtelecom to give the national budget UAH 11-12 billion.
