At the Diia Summit, the team of the Ministry of Digital Transformation presented the updated design of Diia and new revolutionary services in the application. The new services were announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his speech, which emphasizes the importance of digitalization for Ukraine:
“The service we are launching now is the exchange of a certificate in Action for Housing. Now it will work online… Tonight at midnight, the online service for buying and selling cars in Diia will be launched. In just 15 minutes, you will be able to buy or sell a car via your smartphone and receive a new registration certificate and license plates by mail.”
The President emphasized that today Diia already includes 14 digital documents in a smartphone and more than 130 online services. In total, 19.8 million people use the application, which is almost every second Ukrainian.
For his part, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal spoke about the development of e-government and the launch of the most necessary digital services in wartime. During the war, more than 70 new services have been added to the Diia app and portal, ranging from a comprehensive service for IDPs to the eRobota grant program.
New services every month
“Our world has changed, but the digital state has survived and continues to develop. Thanks to Diia, we have managed to create a new technological culture in the state, where services are designed using the digital first approach. Every month we launch several new services, responding to the challenges of reality,” said Mykhailo Fedorov, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine for Innovation, Education, Science and Technology.
From now on, Diia will have even more popular services that will simplify the lives of Ukrainians. We presented at the summit:
- Making changes to the sole proprietorship. From now on, the service will be automatic. You no longer need to provide tax data when changing information about your name, business location, KVEDs, or contacts. Diya will pull up everything you need from the registers and then generate an application. You will receive the result within a few minutes.
- Car re-registration. The most anticipated service for drivers is available in Diia, which radically changes the approach to the process of buying and selling a car. It can be done in a few clicks in Diia without unnecessary checks and intermediaries. This significantly speeds up the process and eliminates corruption risks.
- e-Entrepreneur. This is a comprehensive service that will allow you to receive 8 services at once, which are necessary for starting or developing your own business, with one application. e-Entrepreneur will be available for both newly created and existing businesses. The service is currently being tested, but will be available to all Ukrainians in the near future.
- Services for seafarers. On the Diia portal, seafarers can already apply for qualification documents for the command staff. They can also sign up for a qualification exam and file a complaint against a refusal to receive qualification documents. Other services are also being developed. In particular, we are modernizing the process of obtaining qualification documents for seafarers, as well as expanding the category of ranks for the rank and file. In the coming months, we plan to add a seafarer’s record book order on the Diia portal with a convenient payment and delivery method.
Global promotion
Diia not only created a new technological culture in Ukraine, but also became popular abroad. Other countries are interested in our experience of creating an app and receiving public services in a few clicks.
In particular, USAID supports the promotion of Ukraine’s digitalization experience in the world. We have already started communicating with Zambia and Colombia, and during the summit, USAID Administrator Samantha Power announced another country.
“Ukraine is becoming a model of digital transformation for other countries. In cooperation with Ukraine, we are establishing a partnership with the Government of Ecuador to share Diia’s experience in improving e-governance systems in this country,” said Samantha Power.
In her opinion, Diia is a true example of the ability of democracies to work together, share ideas and unleash the innovative potential of people to overcome complex challenges and create a better future for all.
Support for digital transformation
US Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink has announced the allocation of $150 million to support digital transformation. The funds will be provided over 5 years through the Support for Digital Transformation project to create effective digital ecosystems to support economic growth, transparent reconstruction, and the introduction of new digital services for citizens and businesses that have an anti-corruption effect.
“We are committing a $150 million investment over five years to support digital transformation that expands our efforts for economic recovery, transparent reconstruction and good governance during and after the war,” said Bridget Brink.
“It is thanks to the support of international partners and donors that the Ministry of Digital Transformation can launch revolutionary services and important projects. In particular, thanks to the support of Switzerland, we have implemented the comprehensive eMalyatko service, launched automatic business registration, are developing the Diia.Osvita platform, and next year we will launch Diia.Office and the revolutionary educational project Mriya.
“Diia has passed the stress test in the war. Ukrainians continue to register their businesses online, pay taxes, receive social services, register newborns, get an education, and take an active part in the life of their communities. All of this is possible with the help and thanks to Diia. What inspires and impresses us in our partnership is that you are full of new ideas on how to improve services for Ukrainians, no matter what,” said Patricia Danzi, Director General of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
New design of Diia and plans for the future
The summit also unveiled the new design of Diia. The app has become even more convenient and modern. The new design is a global change in concept and philosophy. Diia becomes a single tool for quick and convenient interaction between citizens and the state.
Among the main updates is a personalized feed with all the necessary sections at your fingertips – donations, bonds, eVorog. And news, so you can find out about updates to Diia right in the app from the feed.
The event also announced the plans of the Ministry of Digital Transformation for the next year. They include the launch of Diia.Office, a separate service for civil servants in Diia, and the Mriya app, a new educational product that will help millions of people learn, develop and succeed.
