If you’re using Chrome on your iPhone, you’ll soon see some features that have migrated over from the Android version. Google Lens will let you add text to your image searches, and you’ll be able to save files and images directly to Google Drive and Photos. You can get “Shopping Tips” for the products you browse.

Chrome for iOS now allows you to add words to Google Lens visual search, allowing you to add nuance to your query or “perform more complex and specific searches,” as Chrome product manager Katya Muradyan wrote in a blog post. After activating Lens, by clicking on the camera icon in the Chrome search bar, you can ask questions about the object you are photographing and it will provide relevant results. Google says that some of these search results will also include artificial intelligence reviews.

This feature has a lot in common with Apple’s Intelligence feature for iPhone 16 owners in iOS 18.2, which is currently in beta testing. Visual intelligence allows you to point the camera at an object and get information about it, including asking questions about it in ChatGPT or searching for it on Google.

Chrome for iPhone has a new feature that allows you to save files directly to Google Drive or Google Photos without using your phone’s internal storage. When you save files from Chrome, you’ll see a new option to save the file to Drive. Similarly, when you’re viewing a photo that you want to save, press and hold it and a new option “Save to Google Photos” will appear in the context menu. Of course, this feature requires you to be signed in with a Google account.

Chrome for iOS also adds a feature that opens a mini map when you tap on an address. Look for the underlined link to specific addresses; clicking on it will take you to the mini-map without leaving the browser.

Finally, Google is adding Shopping Insights for US users. The company is positioning it as a way to help you find the best prices on the products you buy, but it’s hard to imagine that this feature exists solely out of the goodness of Google’s heart. Nevertheless, you will soon see the “Best Deal Now” notification in the Chrome address bar when you search for products for which it is available. If you click on it, you’ll see details like price/tracking history and purchase options.
