In a significant move to foster trust and security in the burgeoning world of AI, China’s first industry collaboration organization focused on the trusted identity of AI agents, the IIFAA AI Agent Trusted Identity Working Group, was officially established at the 2026 Inclusion·Bund Summit. This pioneering group aims to lay a robust foundation of trust for the rapidly expanding AI agent economy.

Addressing the Trust Deficit in the AI Agent Era

As AI agents are poised to enter a new era of commercialization by 2026, their integration into daily life and business operations is accelerating. Scenarios like AI-powered personal shopping assistants, skill-based payments, and increasingly sophisticated inter-agent collaborations (A2A) and agent-to-human interactions (A2M) are becoming commonplace. However, this rapid advancement brings with it a set of critical challenges. The lack of verifiable agent identity, difficulties in protecting user privacy, and the absence of unified standards are emerging as major hurdles to widespread adoption and trust.

The working group’s formation directly addresses these pressing issues. It aims to tackle the core questions of how to define authorization boundaries, how to verify agent actions, and how to ensure transaction traceability. By establishing a trusted identity infrastructure, the group seeks to build the essential groundwork for the scalable commercial deployment of AI agents, ensuring that every interaction is secure and reliable.

A Collaborative Effort from Industry Leaders

The initiative has garnered significant support from leading technology companies and research institutions in China. Over 50 organizations have joined as initial members, demonstrating a strong industry consensus on the importance of trusted AI identities. The impressive roster of founding members includes tech giants such as Alibaba, Ant Group, Huawei, OPPO, Lenovo, and Xiaomi. Complementing these major players are prominent entities like Jueyue, China Mobile Financial Technology, Ctrip, Qualcomm, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), and the Bank Card Test Center.

Building a Foundation of Trust for the AI Economy

Zheng Liang, Secretary-General of the IIFAA Alliance, emphasized the group’s mission during his address. “The alliance is promoting work on AI agent trusted identity with the aim of building a trust foundation for the AI agent economy, making every AI agent interaction trustworthy,” he stated. This underscores the group’s commitment to creating an environment where users and businesses can confidently engage with AI agents, knowing that their identities are secure and their interactions are protected.

The establishment of the IIFAA AI Agent Trusted Identity Working Group marks a crucial step forward in China’s efforts to regulate and foster the responsible development of AI. By proactively addressing the challenges of identity, privacy, and standardization, this collaborative effort is set to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the AI agent economy, ensuring it grows on a solid foundation of trust.
