Bigscreen has announced a permanent price reduction for its Beyond 2 series PC VR headsets. The move aims to make the acclaimed VR hardware more accessible to enthusiasts.
Price Drop and New Pricing
The standard Bigscreen Beyond 2 will now retail for $959, down from its previous price of $1,019. This represents a $60 reduction. For those opting for the model with integrated eye-tracking, the Beyond 2e, the price has been lowered from $1,219 to $1,159, also a $60 decrease.
Halo Mount Returns, Supply Chain Notes
In addition to the price cuts, Bigscreen has confirmed that the long-awaited Halo Mount head strap is back in production. This accessory, designed to distribute the headset’s weight for improved comfort, faced significant delays. It was initially redesigned late last year following feedback from testers and experienced further production setbacks in June.
However, Bigscreen is also cautioning customers about current inventory levels. Due to a recent surge in demand and delays in a batch of shipments, both the Beyond 2 and Beyond 2e are experiencing ‘very low’ stock. While some orders may still ship on the same day they are placed, others might face a waiting period of up to two weeks. The company anticipates returning to its standard shipping times of 1-2 business days by September 14th.
Bigscreen Beyond 2: A Closer Look
The Bigscreen Beyond 2 itself is renowned for its incredibly lightweight design, weighing in at just 107 grams. It features the same micro-OLED displays as its predecessor, offering a sharp resolution of 5120×2560 pixels and supporting refresh rates up to 90Hz. The headset boasts a wide 116-degree field of view (FOV) and is compatible with SteamVR base stations.
When it was initially launched, the Bigscreen Beyond 2 was available in three shell color options: black, orange, and transparent, allowing users a degree of personalization for their VR experience.
