Bard is now integrated with Google apps and services to provide more useful answers and has an improved feature that allows you to easily check information online.
Yuriy Pinsky, Product Marketing Director, Bard, talks about this.
Expanding access to new opportunities
Continuing to develop Bard responsibly, Google is expanding access to features that were previously available only in English. You can now add images with Google Lens and get images from Search in your answers, as well as modify Bard answers (e.g., make them shorter, longer, simpler, less formal, more professional, etc.). These features are now available for more than 40 new languages and countries, including Ukraine.
Connecting to Google apps and services
Today, the search giant is launching Bard Extensions in English – a completely new way to interact and collaborate with Bard. With the help of extensions, Bard can find and show you the information you need from the Google tools you use every day, such as Gmail, Docs, Drive, Maps, YouTube, Google Flights, and Hotels, even if the information you need is stored in different apps or services. This feature is currently only available in the English version.
For example, if you’re planning a trip, you can now ask Bard to select dates from Gmail that work for everyone, view real-time flight and hotel information, see directions on Google Maps, and even watch YouTube videos about things to do in that location – all within the same conversation.
Or imagine applying for a new job and using Bard to help you through the process. You can ask Bard: “Find my resume titled ‘June 2023’ on my Drive and summarize my skills in a short paragraph” and continue working on your cover letter.
Data privacy
If you choose to use the Workspace extension, your data from Gmail, Docs, and Drive will not be shared with reviewers, nor will it be used by Bard to show you ads or to train you on the Bard model. And of course, you’ll have full control over your privacy settings and the ability to disable the extension at any time.
Easy ways to check your answers
Starting today, you can use Bard’s improved Google button to check answers to queries in English more easily. When you click on the “G” icon, Bard will read the answer and evaluate whether there is content on the web to support it. If statements can be evaluated, they are highlighted in color. You can click on the highlighted phrases to see if Search has found information that supports or refutes them. This feature is currently only available in the English version.
Share conversations
Sharing your Bard conversations with other users is now even easier. Starting today, when someone shares a Bard chat with you via a public link, you can continue the conversation in your own chat and ask Bard additional questions about the topic or use the conversation as a starting point for your own discussion. This option will now be available in Ukrainian, among other languages.
The most powerful model
All of these new features are made possible by updates to PaLM 2, which is the most powerful model available today. Based on feedback, Google applied the most advanced learning methods to help the model become more intuitive and creative.
So, whether you want to implement a creative project, start a conversation in one language and continue in any of over 40 other languages, or ask for help with coding, Bard’s answers will now be even more accurate and better.
With these latest updates, Bard is better equipped to help you realize all of your unique ideas.
