Gemini is a member of Google’s most powerful family of AI models. To reflect these developments, Bard has now been renamed Gemini.
You can already communicate with Gemini using the Pro 1.0 model in more than 40 languages and in more than 230 countries and territories. And now Google is offering two new features – Gemini Advanced and a mobile app.
Gemini Advanced
Google has launched Gemini Advanced, a new experience that gives you access to Ultra 1.0, the largest and most powerful AI model available today. In blind tests, Gemini Advanced with Ultra 1.0 was the most desirable chatbot compared to leading alternatives.
With the Ultra 1.0 model, Gemini Advanced is much better at very complex tasks such as coding, logical thinking, following detailed instructions, and collaborating on creative projects. Gemini Advanced not only allows you to have longer and more detailed conversations. It also better understands the context of your previous prompts.
For example:
- Gemini Advanced can become your personal tutor – creating step-by-step instructions, sample tests, or two-way discussions tailored to your learning style.
- It can help you with more advanced coding scenarios by serving as a source of ideas and helping you evaluate different coding approaches.
- It can help digital content creators move from idea to creation by generating new content, analyzing the latest trends, and brainstorming for better ways to grow their audience.
The first version of Gemini Advanced reflects the current progress in artificial intelligence reasoning and will continue to improve. As Google adds new and exclusive features, Gemini Advanced users will have access to enhanced multimodal capabilities, more interactive coding features, deeper data analysis capabilities, and more.
Gemini Advanced is now available in more than 150 countries and territories (including Ukraine) in English. Over time, it will be available in other languages.
Google One AI
Gemini Advanced is available as part of the new Google One AI premium plan, starting with a free two-month trial and then at UAH 909.99 per month.
This plan offers the best of Google AI and the latest advancements, as well as all the benefits of the existing Google One Premium plan, such as 2 TB of storage. In addition, AI Premium subscribers will soon be able to use Gemini in Gmail, Docs, Presentations, Sheets, and more (formerly known as Duet AI).
“We continue to take a bold and responsible approach to bringing this technology to the world. To minimize risks, such as dangerous content or bias, we have built security features into our products in line with our AI Principles,” Google said.
Before launching Gemini Advanced, the developers conducted comprehensive trust and security checks, including external red-teaming. They also improved the basic model through fine-tuning and reinforcement learning based on user feedback. You can find more information in the updated Gemini whitepaper.
Easily use Gemini on your phone
Starting today, Google is rolling out a new mobile experience for Gemini and Gemini Advanced with new apps on Android and in Google on iOS.
With Gemini on your phone, you can type, speak, or add images for a variety of help on the go. For example, you can take a picture of a flat tire and get repair instructions, create a customized image for a dinner invitation, or ask for help writing a complicated text message. This is an important first step towards creating a real AI assistant that is conversational, multifunctional, and useful.
Android
On Android, Gemini is a new kind of assistant that uses generative artificial intelligence to collaborate with you and help you complete tasks.
After downloading the Gemini app or connecting via Google Assistant, you can access it from within the app or anywhere else Google Assistant is normally activated: by pressing the power button, or by swiping in the corner on certain phones, or by saying “Hey Google”. This will open a new overlay window that provides easy access to Gemini as well as contextual help right on your screen.
With this, you can, for example, create a caption for a photo you just took or ask a question about an article you’re reading. Many of the features of the Google Assistant voice assistant will be available through the Gemini app, including setting timers, making calls, and controlling smart home devices. We plan to add more features in the future.
iOS
On iOS, Gemini will be available in the Google app in the coming weeks. Simply tap the Gemini switch and start talking to it to unleash your creativity, create customized images, get help writing social media posts, and even plan a romantic evening – all right in the Google app.
Starting today, Gemini will gradually be available on Android and iOS phones in the United States in English, with full availability in the coming weeks. Starting next week, it will be available in more regions in English, Japanese, and Korean, with other countries and languages to be added soon.
