Baidu has announced a significant rebranding for its Baijiahao App, set to take effect on September 22nd. The application will officially change its name to “Baidu Live Companion” (百度直播伴侣). This strategic move aims to sharpen the app’s focus on providing dedicated features and functionalities for users involved in live streaming.
Key Changes and User Impact
According to Baidu, this transition will not affect users’ existing account information, historical creative data, or any accumulated earnings. The company assures users that all their valuable content and financial records will remain intact and accessible.
Guidance for Different User Groups
Baidu has provided specific guidance for its diverse user base:
- For Non-Live Stream Authors: Users who primarily create and manage articles, rather than live streams, are advised to continue using the main Baidu App. They can access their creative tools and management functions through the “My” (我的) section, followed by “Creation Center” (创作中心).
- For Live Stream Authors: Authors who are actively engaged in live streaming will now utilize the newly rebranded “Baidu Live Companion” app for all their streaming-related activities. This dedicated platform will offer enhanced features tailored to the live streaming experience.
Strategic Focus on Live Streaming
The rebranding signifies Baidu’s commitment to bolstering its live streaming ecosystem. By dedicating an app specifically to live streaming tools and support, Baidu aims to provide a more streamlined and feature-rich experience for creators and viewers alike. This move could indicate a growing emphasis on interactive content and real-time engagement within the Baidu platform.
The transition to “Baidu Live Companion” suggests an effort to consolidate and optimize resources for live content creation and distribution. It will be interesting to observe how this dedicated application evolves and what new features Baidu introduces to support its live streaming ambitions in the coming months.
