ASUS has launched a new piece of gaming hardware, the ROG ZOOM CAT8 Ethernet cable, designed to complement its recently released ROG Rapture GT-AXE11000 AXE11000 router. This new network cable promises significant speed and performance improvements for gamers and power users.
Unpacking the ROG ZOOM CAT8 Cable
Following the announcement of the ¥6999 ROG Rapture GT-AXE11000 router, ASUS is offering a dedicated cable to maximize network performance. The ROG ZOOM CAT8 Ethernet cable is available in two lengths: 1.5 meters priced at ¥299 and 3 meters at ¥399.
Performance Prowess: Beyond CAT7
ASUS highlights that the ROG ZOOM CAT8 cable supports an impressive 40Gbps transmission bandwidth and a 2000MHz carrier frequency. This represents a substantial upgrade over Category 7 cables, which typically offer 10Gbps bandwidth and 600MHz frequency. ASUS emphasizes this leap with the slogan, “One cable apart, the difference is clear.” This increased capacity is crucial for next-generation networking demands, including potential future Wi-Fi standards and high-bandwidth applications.
Engineered for Durability and Speed
The cable features an E/STP dual-shielding design, providing high isolation performance to effectively prevent crosstalk between cables. The exterior is protected by a high-density braided sheath, acting as armor that is resistant to wear and pulling. Internally, the cable utilizes 26AWG oxygen-free pure copper cores, ensuring high purity for lower signal loss over longer distances. The eight-strand twisted pair construction further minimizes signal lag.
Premium Connectors for Reliable Connections
The crystal connectors are designed with a gold-plated copper shell. Both the contacts and the connectors themselves are gold-plated, offering superior resistance to interference, durability against repeated plugging and unplugging, and enhanced oxidation resistance compared to standard iron-shelled connectors. This attention to detail in the connectors aims to fully guarantee the transmission speed and stability.
ROG Customization and Packaging
The ROG ZOOM CAT8 cable comes in a custom ROG gift box, aligning with the brand’s premium aesthetic and targeting the enthusiast market. This packaging suggests a focus on the overall user experience, extending beyond just the functional aspects of the cable.
Synergy with ROG Ecosystem
This launch underscores ASUS’s strategy to offer a complete, high-performance networking ecosystem under its ROG brand. The ROG ZOOM CAT8 cable is positioned as an essential component for users seeking to unlock the full potential of high-end routers like the ROG Rapture GT-AXE11000, especially as the industry moves towards faster internet speeds and more demanding online activities.
The release of the ROG ZOOM CAT8 cable signifies ASUS’s commitment to providing cutting-edge networking solutions for gamers and professionals who require the best in speed, reliability, and durability. With support for 40Gbps speeds and robust construction, this cable is built for the future of high-speed networking.
