Acura RSX claims to be Honda's own Asimo OS operating system

Honda has announced that its first original electric vehicle development, the Acura RSX, will use its own Asimo operating system, The Verge reports. If these names sound familiar, it’s because RSX has been a Honda nameplate since the early 2000s, and Asimo was Honda’s humanoid robot project that was finally mothballed in 2018. Everything old is new again.

Asimo OS was mentioned at CES 2025 alongside the 0 Series SUV and Saloon EV concepts, but the Acura RSX will be the first production car to receive it. According to the company, the operating system uses technology similar to the robot of the same name to recognize the environment and understand people’s intentions. It will also assist in automated and advanced vehicle control.

The company’s current electric vehicles, the Acura ZDX and Honda Prologue, are based on the General Motors Ultium platform. The Acura RSX will be produced at Honda’s new plant in Fayette County, Ohio. The last beams of the plant were erected just under a year ago, and production of batteries and the RSX is expected to start by the end of this year. Consumers will be able to get the new car sometime in 2026.

While Honda is hard at work on its electric vehicles, its plans to merge with Nissan, announced late last year, are continuing. The two companies have been collaborating on electric vehicle components and software since August.
