Nubia Z60 Ultra launched with 120Hz OLED display, UDC camera, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

The Nubia Z60 Ultra has officially debuted in China. This is ZTE’s third Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 smartphone for the Chinese market, following the Red Magic 9 Pro and Red Magic 9 Pro+, which are both gaming smartphones. Like the previous models, the Z60 Ultra promises top-notch camera performance and thus serves as a good competitor for smartphones such as OnePlus 12, Realme GT 5 Pro, iQOO 12 Pro, and Xiaomi 14 Pro in the Chinese market. Here are the specifications, features, and price of the device.

Design and display

Starting from the front, the main highlight of the Nubai Z60 Ultra is its display, which offers a truly full-screen experience. Like its competitors, the display is framed by thin bezels, and it also doesn’t have a camera notch, as it features a camera below the display. With ZTE’s fifth-generation in-display camera technology on board, it promises to deliver even better front-facing camera quality despite being placed below the display.

Nubian Z60 Ultra will be available in three variants: Star Collector’s Edition, Galaxy and Star Glory. The Starry Sky Collector’s Edition model features a special back panel with a 3D starry sky design created using micro-etching technology. At the same time, the Galaxy and Star Glory variants include AG matting technology to create an intriguing combination of matte and bright finishes. In addition, it comes with a dust- and water-resistant case that is IP68-rated. It weighs 246 grams and is 8.78 mm thick.

The Nubia Z60 Ultra features a 6.8-inch BOE Q9+ OLED display with a 1.5K (2480 x 1116 pixels) resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. It also offers an instantaneous touch sampling rate of 1200 Hz, 2160 Hz high-frequency PWM, 1500 nits local peak brightness, 10-bit color depth, and 100 percent DCI-P3 color gamut. For security, it is equipped with an under-screen fingerprint scanner.

Specifications and camera

Under the hood, the Nubia Z60 Ultra is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, with options for up to 24GB of LPDDR5x RAM and a massive 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage. It’s backed by a 6,000mAh silicon carbon anode battery, which is said to hold more power without adding to the weight of the device. The device comes with 80W wired charging support. There is no support for wireless charging on the device.

On the back, a powerful triple camera is in the spotlight, consisting of a 50-megapixel Sony IMX800 main camera with an 18mm focal length, a 50-megapixel OmniVision OV50E ultra-wide-angle lens with a 35mm focal length, and a 64-megapixel OV64B periscopic telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and an 85mm focal length. All three cameras are equipped with optical image stabilization (OIS) and support 4K video recording at 120 frames per second. For selfies, there’s a 12-megapixel camera below the display, equipped with its own display chip and deep AI recognition engine.

Z60 Ultra runs on Android 14 based on My OS 14. It is equipped with features such as dual SIM, 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, dual-frequency GPS, IR blaster, NFC, USB-C (USB 3.1) port, x-axis linear motor, and two speakers.
