Fangchengbao, BYD’s off-road performance brand, has officially announced that its flagship 9-series model, the Bao 9, is set to launch in November. The brand released the second installment of its “Answering Netizen Questions” series, confirming the upcoming debut of this highly anticipated vehicle. Ahead of the official launch, the Bao 9’s display vehicles have already begun shipping to dealerships nationwide since the end of October.
Key Technological Advancements
The Fangchengbao Bao 9 stands out as the brand’s sole 9-series flagship model, boasting a comprehensive suite of advanced technologies that elevate its performance and driver experience. All trims of the Bao 9 will come standard with four cutting-edge driving and control features:
- DMS Hybrid Platform: The Bao 9 debuts the brand-new DMS hybrid platform, meticulously engineered by the Fangchengbao team. This platform features optimizations in both chassis structure and powertrain tuning, specifically designed for the ‘Tai’ series vehicles.
- BYD Fast Charging Technology & Second-Generation Blade Battery: Leveraging BYD’s prowess in battery technology, the Bao 9 integrates fast charging capabilities with the second-generation Blade battery. This combination allows for a remarkable 5-minute charge to gain significant range, a full charge in just 9 minutes, and minimal impact on charging speed even in temperatures as low as -30°C, adding only 3 minutes to the charging time.
- Cloud-Pillow A Body Control System (with Road Preview): This intelligent system enhances ride comfort and stability by actively anticipating road conditions. It can sense upcoming road undulations and proactively adjust suspension damping, ensuring a smooth and composed drive on both paved and unpaved surfaces.
- iATS Intelligent All-Terrain System: The iATS system intelligently identifies various driving terrains and automatically adjusts the vehicle’s driving modes. Whether on ice, snow, sand, mud, or gravel, the system automatically optimizes power output and chassis settings for the most suitable configuration.
Comprehensive Feature Set
As a hybrid, six-seater SUV, the Fangchengbao Bao 9 offers an impressive comprehensive range of 1630KM on a full tank of fuel and a full charge. The vehicle also comes standard with the “Tian Shen Zhi Yan” (Eye of God) B-grade driver assistance system. Its safety is further enhanced by an ultra-high-strength steel cage body structure, the TSC high-speed blowout auxiliary stability control system, and front high-performance six-piston calipers.
Launch Timeline and Availability
According to Xiong Tianbo, General Manager of BYD Group’s Fangchengbao Business Unit, the official launch of the Fangchengbao Bao 9 is scheduled for after November 15th. The company is committed to ensuring ample stock is available to minimize wait times for customers. Display and test drive vehicles were set to arrive at dealerships by the end of October.
In addition to the Bao 9, the SHARK pickup truck is also slated for a release. Following the Bao 9’s debut, the SHARK pickup is planned to launch and begin deliveries between the end of November and early December.
