Hello Games’ ambitious space exploration title, No Man’s Sky, has officially launched on Apple’s iOS platform. Players can now purchase the game on the US App Store for $19.99 USD, with a simultaneous release of the new ‘Forsaken’ Halloween update across all platforms.

New Beginnings and Mysterious Merchants

The ‘Forsaken’ update introduces the intriguing ‘Abandoned Merchants’ to the vast universe of No Man’s Sky. These enigmatic alien traders can be found near Space Spire locations, offering unique Freighter Module upgrades in exchange for collected curiosities. This adds a new layer of discovery and strategic resource management for players venturing into deep space.

Customizable Cockpits and Enhanced Exploration

A significant visual and functional upgrade comes with the addition of multiple new cockpit designs. Players can now choose from the spacious and minimalist ‘Vantage’ class, the segmented, insectoid-inspired ‘Hornet’ class, and the ‘Viper’ class, featuring a mesh observation window and leather-clad panels. The ‘Mantis’ class cockpit offers a square panel design reinforced with titanium alloy frames. All these new cockpit types come with various structural variations, allowing for extensive personalization of each player’s starship.

Expanded Missions and Scavenging

The update also enhances mission gameplay with the introduction of long-distance space cargo missions. Players can now pick up crucial delivery tasks from Space Spires, transporting important packages to distant planets for substantial rewards. Furthermore, the game provides detailed guidance for space salvaging operations. By equipping their Freighters with the Gravitino Coil device, players can now more efficiently search for valuable technology and minerals amidst the wreckage of space debris and asteroid fields.

Streamlined Interface and Navigation

For seasoned explorers, a new minimalist HUD mode has been implemented. This feature scales down the compass, hazard status bars, and mission notifications, while hiding non-essential markers, allowing players to fully immerse themselves in the cosmic vistas. The space exploration experience is further refined with the ability to upload bases located outside of planets to the No Man’s Sky shared server, enabling other players to visit and explore these player-created locations. Nearby star systems are now displayed as bright, selectable destinations in space, allowing for direct flight navigation without needing to access the galaxy map.

Convenience and Combat Improvements

To improve usability, a new weapon selection wheel has been added for multi-purpose tools. This allows for quicker and more intuitive switching between various weapons and utility functions, eliminating the need to cycle through modes. These combined updates aim to provide a richer, more engaging, and user-friendly experience for both new and veteran players across all platforms.
