Intel is making significant strides in expanding its manufacturing capabilities across the United States, with key projects in Arizona and Ohio progressing steadily. The chip giant confirmed that its construction and equipment installation efforts are in full swing at its new Fab 62 facility in Arizona.
Arizona Fab 62 Nears Operational Readiness
The Fab 62 wafer fabrication plant, located at Intel’s Ocotillo campus in Arizona, is the sixth high-volume manufacturing facility to be built on the site. The company announced that construction and the crucial phase of equipment installation are now underway. Fab 62 is projected to commence operations by the end of 2028, marking a significant milestone in Intel’s domestic production strategy.
Ohio On Campus Sees Structural Milestones
Further east, Intel’s ambitious Ohio On campus in New Albany is also witnessing substantial progress. The initial phase of the first wafer fab, known as Mod 1, has seen the installation of its first major structural truss. This development underscores the ongoing commitment to bringing large-scale semiconductor manufacturing to the Midwest.
New Mask Manufacturing Facility Underway
In addition to its major fab constructions, Intel also broke ground earlier this year on a new mask manufacturing facility in Santa Clara, California. This move highlights Intel’s comprehensive approach to strengthening its entire supply chain and manufacturing ecosystem within the US.
These continuous investments in expanding its US-based manufacturing footprint demonstrate Intel’s dedication to increasing its production capacity and bolstering domestic semiconductor supply chains. The company’s proactive approach to construction and equipment installation across multiple sites positions it for future growth and technological advancements in the competitive global semiconductor market.
