DJI has rolled out a new firmware update for its Osmo Pocket 4 handheld gimbal camera, bringing significant enhancements, most notably the addition of the ‘HarmonyOS Wireless Quick Transfer’ feature. This update, version V01.04.1216, aims to streamline the workflow for creators by enabling seamless media transfer.

HarmonyOS Wireless Quick Transfer Arrives

The standout feature in this update is the new HarmonyOS Wireless Quick Transfer. This functionality allows newly captured photos and videos to be automatically transferred to a mobile device’s album even after the camera is powered off. Additionally, photos can be transferred instantly to the mobile device’s album. For an optimal and stable transfer experience, DJI recommends using mobile devices running HarmonyOS 7.0 or higher and ensuring the camera’s battery level is above 15%.

Enhanced Customization and Color Science

Beyond the new transfer capabilities, the firmware update also introduces customizability options and improves the camera’s creative tools. The single-click and double-click functions for custom buttons can now be assigned to activate the ‘Intelligent Follow’ feature, offering users more flexible control during shooting.

Furthermore, the D-Log to Rec.709 and D-Log to Rec.709 vivid LUT (Look-Up Table) conversion files have been updated to version 2.0. This revision focuses on enhancing the accuracy and consistency of color reproduction, which is crucial for filmmakers and videographers seeking precise color grading in their post-production process.

User Experience and Stability Improvements

DJI has also implemented optimizations to improve the user experience and image quality in various scenarios. While specific details on these optimizations are not provided, such updates typically involve fine-tuning algorithms for better performance under different lighting conditions or motion settings.

The update also addresses and resolves several known issues, contributing to a more stable and reliable operation of the Osmo Pocket 4. This commitment to ongoing software development ensures that users continue to receive improvements and bug fixes, enhancing the overall value and performance of the device.

What This Means for Creators

The introduction of HarmonyOS Wireless Quick Transfer is a significant step towards a more integrated mobile content creation ecosystem. For users within the Huawei ecosystem, this feature promises to reduce the friction of transferring footage from the camera to their phone for immediate editing or sharing. The ability to transfer files wirelessly and even after the camera is off simplifies the post-shoot workflow considerably.

The enhancements to Intelligent Follow activation and the improved LUT files also underscore DJI’s focus on empowering creators with more creative control and professional-grade tools. These updates, while seemingly minor individually, collectively contribute to making the Osmo Pocket 4 a more versatile and user-friendly device for vlogging, travel videography, and general content creation.

Users are advised to connect their Osmo Pocket 4 to Wi-Fi or a mobile network to download and install the latest firmware update.
