GAC Aion is gearing up to launch its exciting new Ray 7 electric sedan, with pre-orders set to officially open on October 17th. This latest offering from Aion is built on the brand’s dedicated AEP pure electric platform and is designed to appeal to younger drivers seeking a “super pure electric sedan” that doesn’t compromise on performance or technology.

Key Specifications and Features

The Ray 7 boasts impressive dimensions, measuring 4960mm in length, 1900mm in width, and 1455mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2920mm. Under the hood (or rather, under the floor), it features a rear-mounted single motor setup, powered by a collaboration between Huawei’s Drive ONE multi-in-one electric drive system and batteries from the renowned CATL.

Inside the cabin, drivers will be treated to a cutting-edge cockpit featuring a 5nm Qualcomm 8295 processor paired with a substantial 24GB of LPDDR5 high-bandwidth memory and a next-generation 128GB UFS 5.0 flash storage. The interior design includes a floating, soft-light central console and a unique three-layer silver-plated anti-sun roof, engineered to block 88% of solar energy and an impressive 99.99% of UV rays, ensuring a comfortable and protected environment.

Advanced Drivetrain and Chassis

GAC Aion has integrated a fully electrified vehicle control system into the Ray 7, featuring the world’s first chip-level drive-and-control fusion architecture. Notably, it debuts Huawei’s EMB (Electric Mechanical Brake) fully electric wire-control braking system, complemented by Huawei’s iTRACK intelligent torque control system. The chassis incorporates an aluminum-mixed front double-wishbone and rear five-link suspension system, further enhanced by anti-roll bars, FSD variable damping suspension, and HRS hydraulic rebound stoppers for a superior ride and handling experience.

Innovative Technology and Safety

The Ray 7 is equipped with a new thermal management system featuring a 28-in-1 thermal management module. The powertrain benefits from the new generation Huawei DriveONE multi-in-one electric drive, and the battery pack is supplied by CATL, utilizing the advanced Magazine Battery 2.0 solution. This advanced battery technology ensures both performance and safety.

In terms of autonomous driving capabilities, the Ray 7 integrates L4-level algorithms derived from Pony.ai’s technology. It is outfitted with 27 automotive-grade full-view sensors, including a 192-line LiDAR and three 4D millimeter-wave radars. These advanced systems enable sophisticated features such as autonomous parking in navigation-free scenarios, allowing the car to find parking spaces independently.

With its blend of advanced technology, powerful performance, and innovative design, the GAC Aion Ray 7 is poised to make a significant impact in the electric vehicle market. The upcoming pre-sale event on October 17th will undoubtedly be a key moment for potential buyers eager to get their hands on this highly anticipated electric sedan.
