Mercedes-AMG has officially unveiled the CLE 646 Collector’s Edition, a limited-run performance coupe that has already sold out its entire production of 30 units. This exclusive model marks the second vehicle released under Mercedes-Benz’s ultra-luxury, limited-edition brand, Mythos, established in 2022.

Unleashing Power and Performance

At the heart of the CLE 646 lies a formidable 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine. Featuring a flat-plane crankshaft design, this powerhouse delivers an impressive 646 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque. Power is exclusively sent to the rear wheels through a 9-speed AMG Speedshift transmission, embodying a pure rear-wheel-drive setup.

Complementing the engine’s roar is a high-performance exhaust system, jointly developed by Mercedes-Benz and Akrapovič, engineered to produce an exhilarating soundtrack. The car also boasts a launch control system specifically tuned for its rear-drive configuration.

Mercedes-AMG has released impressive performance figures for the CLE 646: a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 3.9 seconds, reaching 200 km/h from a standstill in 11.4 seconds, and accelerating to 300 km/h in 36.8 seconds. The coupe’s top speed is electronically limited to 310 km/h.

Striking Aesthetics and Advanced Dynamics

The exterior of the CLE 646 is equally striking, featuring a unique gradient paint finish. It starts with a matte Mojave Silver at the front, smoothly transitioning to a matte Obsidian Black by the B-pillar.

The chassis is equipped with an adjustable traction control system and exclusive steel spring coilover suspension, with dampers offering four-way adjustability. The ride height has been lowered by 23mm at the front and 15mm at the rear.

Stopping power is handled by a high-performance braking system, featuring 420mm ceramic brake discs at the front and 360mm at the rear. These are paired with six-piston calipers up front and single-piston calipers at the rear, all housed within 20-inch wheels.

Aggressive Aerodynamics and Weight Reduction

The body of the CLE 646 has undergone significant modifications, resulting in a width that is 60mm greater than the standard CLE 53. The extensive use of carbon fiber throughout the vehicle contributes to a substantial weight reduction of 170 kg.

Key components such as the fenders, front bumper, side skirts, hood, roof, and rear bumper are all crafted from carbon fiber. The car features a high-performance aerodynamic package designed to generate over 250 kg of downforce at its top speed. This includes an adjustable front splitter, fender vents, integrated air ducts next to the headlights, and an adjustable rear wing.

Stripped-Down, Driver-Focused Interior

The interior design philosophy of the CLE 646 prioritizes weight reduction and a focus on the driving experience. To achieve this, the rear seats, sound insulation materials, and several driver-assistance functions have been removed. The audio system has also been simplified, and comfort-oriented features have been reduced.

Inside, occupants are greeted by ultra-lightweight bucket seats, lightweight carbon fiber door panels, and a roll cage. Further weight-saving measures include the replacement of the rear side windows and rear windscreen with polycarbonate.

For those seeking even more track-focused performance, an optional performance package is available, which includes the addition of six-point racing harnesses.
