Guo Weiwei, the visionary producer behind the hugely popular Jian Wang 3 (also known as JX3) series, has officially announced his departure from Xishanju. In a heartfelt announcement, Guo shared that his final day at the venerable game studio would be tomorrow, marking the end of an era for the long-standing company.
A Two-Decade Journey
Guo Weiwei, a stalwart figure at Xishanju and often described as the soul of Jian Wang 3, joined Kingsoft’s Xishanju studio back in 2004 after graduating. He has dedicated two decades of his career to the Jian Wang 3 project, stating that this period has been ‘the time I have the fewest regrets about.’
His tenure at Jian Wang 3 saw him ascend through various key roles, including Executive Lead Designer, Lead Designer, Executive Producer, Producer, and Design Director. He took on the role of Project Lead in 2011, steering the game’s development. In 2018, Guo was appointed CEO of Xishanju and Senior Vice President of Kingsoft Group.
In December 2025, Guo stepped down as CEO of Xishanju due to personal career planning, at which point he indicated his intention to continue as Chief Producer, focusing on the R&D of the Jian Wang 3 IP. Approximately nine months later, he has now chosen to bid farewell to Xishanju entirely.
Gratitude and Farewell
In his announcement, Guo expressed his sincere gratitude to Lei Jun, Chairman of Kingsoft, and the Xishanju Games board for the opportunities provided. He reserved a special note of thanks for the dedicated player community of Jian Wang 3, describing them as ‘You always support the growth of Jian Wang 3, you are always like family.’
Lei Jun himself responded in the comments section, stating, ‘Thank you for your persistence and dedication over the past 22 years. I wish you all the best, and hope we meet again.’
Guo Weiwei’s departure is a significant moment for Xishanju and the Jian Wang 3 franchise. His leadership and creative vision have been instrumental in the game’s enduring success and cultural impact. While his departure marks the end of an important chapter, the legacy he leaves behind is substantial, and the community’s warm reception to his announcement underscores the deep connection he has forged with the players over the years.
The future of Jian Wang 3 and Xishanju’s wider development efforts will undoubtedly be watched closely as the company navigates this transition. Guo’s own future endeavors remain to be seen, but his statement suggests a continued passion for the gaming industry.
