The team showcased exceptional performance throughout the tournament, securing a monumental victory and a hefty $7 million USD prize. This win marks a significant achievement for AG.AL, solidifying their position at the pinnacle of global esports.
A Dominant Run on the World Stage
AG.AL’s journey to the championship was nothing short of remarkable. The team participated in an impressive 18 EWC events, successfully qualifying for the main stage in all of them – a feat that ranked them second globally among all participating clubs. Their roster also boasted international talent, with players like GWEN, who clinched the title in the Trackmania event, hailing from overseas, highlighting AG.AL’s global recruitment strategy.
Key Victories and Overall Performance
The team demonstrated its prowess across various disciplines. AG.AL secured championship titles in highly competitive games such as Trackmania and Tekken 8. Furthermore, they achieved runner-up positions in esteemed titles including Chess and Honor of Kings. Accumulating a total of 5300 points, AG.AL’s consistent high-level performance allowed them to narrowly edge out their strong rivals, FALCONS, in the final standings.
A Tournament of Challenges and Relocation
The 2026 EWC Esports World Club Championship faced considerable logistical hurdles. Originally slated to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from July 6th to August 23rd, the event’s location was moved to Paris, France. This relocation was primarily driven by escalating tensions in the Middle East, which posed significant safety concerns and created substantial travel difficulties for international esports participants and stakeholders. The decision was a joint one, made in consultation with various ecosystem partners, to ensure the smooth execution of the championship.
Looking Ahead: Riyadh’s Return
Despite the change in venue for this year’s event, EWC officials have emphasized Riyadh’s enduring importance as a core host city. The organizers have indicated that the Esports World Club Championship is expected to return to Riyadh in 2027, reaffirming the city’s role in the long-term global strategy of EWC.
